I was born
August 7th, 1971 at the Medical Center of USC, Los Angeles, California. I grew up in San Dimas, California. It’s quiet for the most
part and a good solid town to grow up in. I attended Allen Avenue Elementary, Lone Hill Intermediate and then San Dimas High School
and graduated in 1989. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, I was not able to attend college full time right out of
high school. I have attended classes and such, but still haven’t taken the time to apply myself to get any degree. This is definitely
something I plan to change in the near years to come.
I really wasn’t into the whole “school scene” until my high school days, where
I became heavily involved in the Theater/Drama Department. My senior year, I was in two plays, “Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide” and “The Butler
Did It.” It was a lot of fun being involved scholastically, which was something I never thought I would ever say. I was an average
grading student, and didn’t receive my first grade above C in most of my classes. I just never felt very challenged by the curriculum. This of course changed my senior year where I found my calling in writing short stories and such. That was the year I received my
first A in English.
When I was around 24, I “seriously” began writing short stories and poetry. The poetry was because I wanted to
impress a young lady that I had an eye for. Well, she wasn’t impressed with my poems one bit, but I enjoyed it so much I kept at it. I still write short stories, but mainly concentrate on an on-going ‘series’ that I write for my Mom every year for her Christmas present. Some day I will get them published.
Since 1992, I have been a Sponsor for an Alateen Group in Pomona, California. It’s a program for
children of alcoholics / drug addicts. Being able to give those kids a shoulder to cry on, or an ear to listen to them is a very humbling
experience, especially when I think my life has totally gone to crap. I have been very fortunate to have some truly awesome kids come
through those doors. I have learned probably more from them than they will ever learn from me and they have become a very big
part of my life.
I have also been heavily involved within my own Al-Anon program for quite some time. Over the years, I have been of
service on the group level with different responsibilities. Currently, I am the Web Coordinator for the Inland Empire Al-Anon Service
Board. I have also held the positions of Chairman of the Board (2006 & 2010), Ex-Officio Chair (2007 & 2011),
World Service Liaison and Alateen Coordinator for the Inland Empire Al-Anon Service Board.
Other commitments include being the
Alateen Co-Sponsor for AFG (2004) and SCAC (2007), Sponsor for SCAC (2008), AFG (2011) and SoCal (2011). The one thing that
I am very proud of is the fact that I was the very first male Chairperson (2007) for the IEAAC Al-Anon Committee in the Inland Empire.
To say that my life has been full is an understatement. But it keeps me out of trouble…………most of the time.
